Edward Enniful – Black History Month

I’ve been following Edward Enninful since he took over as Editor in Chief of Vogue in 2017. He brings together two of my interests and passions; inclusion in the corporate world, specifically addressing and supporting BAME representation, and fashion! Lauren Indvik’s article in today’s FT is a good example of taking action and supporting activism. Enninful has gone beyond words; most of the crew on the September cover shoot were black, the clothes are by BAME designers including Martine Rose and A-Cold-Wall’s Samuel Ross, with the front cover by Nigerian-born photographer Misan Harriman – the first black man to shoot a British Vogue cover in its 104-year history. Enninful said “it was important to have input not only in front of the camera but behind it – something fashion brands need to do more of”. He went on to say “It’s not enough putting an image on your Instagram feed, or showing a picture in a magazine or shoot. The infrastructure behind the scenes has to change,”

I couldn’t agree more.
